Emergency Response

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) -- SOFNA is working with the City of Santa Clara in order to be prepared for "The Big One" -- the major earthquake expected in the Bay Area in the next 50 years. We'll be asking interested neighbors to join us and receive training in disaster preparedness. Contact a Board member if you are interested in working on the plan or receiving training, or both!

The Fire Department offers a series of classes to prepare residents for emergencies. The next series of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes for 2016 begin on February 9th. Consult the schedule for more information.

In the mean time, check out the links to regional Emergency Preparedness Materials and Links and Checklists. Corinne Celio compiled a helpful list of steps you and your neighbors can take.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch -- The neighborhood is continuing the activities to organize under the Neighborhood Watch program. To establish block-by-block coverage, we want to create a team of "street captains" so that there is a contact person for each block. Check the current list of street captains to see who the street captain is for your block, or volunteer yourself to "captain" your block.
